Dover man killed Wednesday while driving dirt bike in Camden

A 33-year-old Dover man was killed Wednesday night while riding a dirt bike near Route 13 in Camden, Delaware State Police said.

Police said Richard S. Peace was traveling north on Peachtree Run, approaching Vanessa Drive, behind the Tractor Supply Co. and Honda dealership located on South Du Pont Highway.

At the same time, a Dover man driving a sedan and traveling south on Peachtree Run was attempting to make a left turn onto Vanessa Drive. As the car attempted the turn, it collided with the Peace on the dirt bike, police said.

A 33-year-old Dover man was killed while riding his dirt bike at this intersection Wednesday night.

The Honda dirt bike that the Peace was operating is not legal to ride on the roadway and is not equipped with headlights or taillights, police said. The incident happened after 9 p.m.

Peace was taken to a nearby hospital and later died.

The driver of the sedan was uninjured, police said.
