Residence Inn by Marriott has opened on Route 24, just west of Coastal Highway, in Rehoboth Beach.

The 104-room hotel features spacious suites with full kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas, aimed at people in town for an extended stay. Amenities include an outdoor pool, gym, meeting rooms, market and full-service bar.

Julie Hudson of Hudson Management described the Residence Inn as "high-end."

"The overall feeling is a little more luxurious," she said.

The four-story hotel is managed by Hudson Management and owned by Colonial Hotel 2 LLC. Both outfits are run by the Hudson family of Lewes. They also own Fairfield Inn and Suites on Route 1.

A suite at the Residence Inn in Rehoboth consists of a kitchenette and separate living and sleeping areas.

"We believe most of the stays will be your vacationers, but as the area grows, there is a large need for extended stays," said Hudson Management's Julie Hudson. "Travel nurses, larger construction firms."

COVID-19 has made the hotel experience a bit different, and the Residence Inn is no exception.

"The biggest thing is that there's a lot less interaction between guests and staff. A lot of times housekeepers leave sheets and linens outside your door in a bag. That's the type of thing the hotel industry has seen due to COVID," Hudson said.

Room costs will vary depending on the market demand at the time. Right now, they're ranging between $132 and $169 per night.

Amenities at the Residence Inn in Rehoboth include an outdoor pool, gym, meeting rooms, market and bar.
